  8. All crackers apart from Big E which is a bit too into Simply Red/Blue-eyed Soul territory for me. I’ve never knowingly heard A Certain Ratio but, God, it’s a smashing band name, isn’t it? even the Good Together album had its moments – it just didn’t sound much like what came before (or after). The A&M deal did give them enough.
  9. A Certain Ratio was one of the first bands to release a record on Tony Wilson's Factory label. They were, along with the much more successful New Order, at the forefront of the Manchester dance scene of the early 80s. Their music is an eclectic mix of funk, electronic, jazz and Latin styles.
